"there's something about fashion than can make people very nervous."
anna wintour

here's a very late review from a movie i've just watched two days ago, the september issue; a 2009 indie movie directed by r.j.cutler about the famed anna wintour and the making of vogue.
on a short note, september issues are considered very important, and they tend to make september issues big ones because, according to vogue's executive fashion director candy pratts price, september is the january of fashion.
this movie revolves around the making of the issue, featuring cover star sienna miller (shot by mario testino), and the selection processes done by anna wintour. frankly said, this movie covered her impeccable charm (almost) completely, and how strict she was in the making of this issue.
the most important part was to see the discussions and clashes happened between anna and her crews, one of them is the super-talented creative director grace coddington, whom anna herself called as a "genius", and how her favorite sets of pictures did not get anna's approvals, instead of her actually least favorite ones.
there were also appearances by designers such as stefano pilati (ysl's head designer) and thakoon panichgul. it was kind of surprising for me to notice that anna probably likes seeing colors in clothes, reflected in her appreciation for thakoon, and does not hype too many black or muted colors, as in pilati's designs for ysl fall 2009.
to wrap things up, i really recommend all of you fashion lovers to watch it. the fashion world could be easier and tougher than we think! ;) oh and, this movie also revealed the extreme retouching for the cover, where sienna's head got pasted into another body.
