I don't want to talk about how hard it is to be a single mother. I don't want to talk about all the issues within the black community that most attribute to single parent households lead by black women. Simply put, I don't want to talk about these things because I want to do something about them. I want to see more single moms get the support they need, so my most recent project has been putting together a resource guide for single moms in need of guidance and support. Beyond highlighting various housing programs, job training opportunities, and single parent support groups that I feel any mother could benefit from, I wanted to point out things that black women could benefit from like building better relationships with our black fathers, connecting with other black mothers, actively participating in cultural events with our kids, and taking time to de-stress and better ourselves.
