This weeks selection for awesome scene sunday is one of the most incredible endings ever put to film. It comes from Requiem for a Dream, a film I just reviewed as part of the 1001 Movie Club. This sequence is as devestating as they come, the culmination of a nightmarish trawl through the world of drug abuse. Check out my review if you want my extended thoughts on the film; if you haven't seen Requiem, stop reading this and go and watch it right now. This ending is so good that it may very well have you in tears even if you don't know the characters, but in the context of the film it will absolutely destroy you.

P.S. This is actually the second time in just the eight week history of A.S.S that I have picked a scene that features a score by Clint Mansell. But give me a break...the man is a freakin' genius!
