I think most of you know what I am talking about when I say that the iMac (or a PC) is the work and media center in my room. Several of my friends and family have their huge expensive flat screens TVs in the living room (with or without Apple TV), but in the office, or like in my case, average joe who has no office space in the house, have a computer/laptop in our room or additionally we may have another less expensive TV to watch media in a bigger screen.
A 27 inch is great for office work but just not enough for a room entertainment system. Apple took the 30 inch nice, but hot iron monitor, out of their inventory and never replaced it. I suggest they come up with a 30 or so inch iMac. Not as expensive as a tower, better equipped than a MacBook Pro and by no means as simple as a Mac Mini. Something you can really work on.
Now days TV and PCs are merging technologies and having a nice monitor in your room/office to work with and watch media would just fill the void (not to mention save space). furthermore, imaging being able handle all your work on a nice big screen that does not take as much space and to be able to manage all your media from your room/office and being able to play it anywhere in your house with either Apple TV or any iPod/iPhone device, Cool hu?

Well, only because they might have to pay you overtime. If they have to pay you extra or a premium overtime wage, they will try hard to not let you get to that point. Not because they don't want you working too much, but because they don't want to have to pay you for your time.
Opening day is set in stone, so there is no pushing it back. In the end, myself and my assistant had to work seven 20-hour days in a row in order to get everything completed. When I turned in my invoice, with obvious gobs of overtime on it, it was sent back saying "We pay you a day rate. A day is 24 hours. Your rate covers however much you have to work in a day."
Here the public sector tends to offer time off in lieu, rather than paid overtime. The reason he was told to work less was genuinely because of the law. They could get in trouble if he worked too many hours for too long.
That many 20 hour days is quite a feat! I just find it amazing that people can think like that- it is obviously over time! I'm going to start as a lawyer next year and I know there will be long hours, sometimes 20 in one day like you. To do that I will sign an opt-out of the Working Time Regulations (which limit the average hours per week to 48) to get the job done. Bono still sucks, U2 has always sucked, and, much as i like a) the color of the new iPod and b) fighting AIDS, Apple's weird extended relationship with Bono makes very little sense to me.

This is the chip to use in a (stop gap) gamer machine, but it needs to be fully 64 bit for 4+ gig of RAM, 4 slots of non-buffered ram, support SLI, be user upgradable, multiple video cards inside, 2 disk drives (stripping mode), lots of USB and Firewire ports in a new enclosure.
Just my opinion.

Does anyone know if it is still possible to start a new wireless plan without a contract? I mean, the whole idea of the contract is to cover the phone subsidy, but if I don't want a new phone do I still have to get one?
I've been considering switching to Cingular since I don't get any signal at all in my workplace with T-Mobile (the higher GSM frequency has trouble going through thick walls) but Cingular works great.
I haven't been on a contract in about 5 years now, and I don't want to get back on one again, which is part of the reason I've stayed with T-Mobile.

It's relatively easy, you need just some very basic terminal experience.

In the past, when Apple has released new models, on the "deals" page, they would sell off the old *new boxed* stock for a little less than the new models. Sometimes these were a great deal, other times, not so much. Anyway, with the iMac and Mac Mini updates last week and the iPod updates today, it appears that there is no "old stock" products for sale from Apple. I was hoping to pick up the 5G/60GB to replace my 4G/60GB as I'd now like the bigger screen. Yes, I am looking for a deal... Or how about a 1G/1G shuffle for $49???

All that money and they still don't know that they should invest in doing some real research and development, and innovation instead. They have done something genuine for me, they have cared for me, they have loved me, etc. Some random idiot woman in a minivan is just another person, why should I care about her? Because she is a human? I think not. I have no personal connection to that woman, I cannot feasibly or easily use her to advance myself, so why should I care what happens to her today, tomorrow, or 20 years from now? Logically, I shouldn't; emotionally and morally I should because she is another person, I think that is nonsensical.

I wish the games worked on a 4G iPod. I guess I'll have to wait for the warranty to expire and then for it to die before I spring for a 5G. Hopefully by then there will be a 6G widescreen iPod!
I'm more curious about the iPod nano 4GB = $149 and then the regular iPod 30GB = $249 pricing than the pricing between the 30GB and 80GB.

Until Leopard is out we wont see the true value of these babies. Also by then some of the apps will take advantage of the muti-cores and multi-cpus, and the changes to the OS will allow applications not written for more than 1 core to take some advantage also. So like I said Leopard will be the one showing the true potential of these babies. Can't wait!!!!!!!:cool:

Maybe I'm not doing this math right, but I'm not sure that's true. I can download a 4.7GB movie in about 2-3 hours over my internet connection (average speeds of 500Kb/sec). A 802.11a or g router transfers data at a max rate of 54Mbps or about 6.75MB/sec. That's about 12 times as fast, meaning that transmitting full DVD-quality video can occur in realtime, with plenty of bandwidth to spare to other functions while watching your movies. By the time HD video recording becomes standard, the Apple video airport express can be upgraded to 802.11n to provide even more bandwidth.

As my first post to macrumors, I just purchased a 13" refurb 30 min ago. Oh well, still good technology. I can finally sell my 2007 macbook.

If you read the linked article you will see that the guard exchanged gunfire with the 2 male suspects. It's not excessive to try to save your own life...
It still must feel bad knowing you killed someone. I mean the intention was likely to wound to remove the threat rather than kill. Even if all was justified, the guard will likely need counseling or time to get over it. If he actually enjoyed it then he's in the wrong line of work.
