SeaWorld rescue team returns two stranded pilot whales
to waters off Key West, Fla.

Saturday, May 7, SeaWorld's animal rescue team and experts from NOAA and the Florida Marine Mammal Stranding Network returned two stranded pilot whales to the waters off Key West, Fla. The whales were two of 20 whales that had beached themselves on May 5. Five whales remain alive and in guarded condition.

SeaWorld really puts a lot of effort in trying to save endangered animals and natural environments, and we really commend them for trying to do so! Great job, SeaWorld.

The Making of "One Ocean" - Set Design

This is the fifth video about the making of "One Ocean", SeaWorld Orlando's newest show (READ MORE HERE). This time, we will take a look at the refurbishment of the Shamu stadium, which now includes some very nice particulars on the walls, such as fish, dolphins and more, along with fountains. Take a look:

The fifth video in our series "Beneath the Surface" takes you to the creative world of set design for the "One Ocean" show. Designer Stan Meyer was both inspired and challenged by Shamu Stadium's three-story set. "Shamu Stadium is an amazing canvas," he explains. "We want every guest to the "One Ocean" show to be enveloped in the show experience with brilliantly colored lights and soaring fountains, so placement is very important. We are also challenged by the elements of salt water and sunlight."

The Stadium looks much brighter than when there was "Believe". In my opinion, it was a good change, as killer whales are generally very playful, therefore the colors and particulars added to the stadium perfectly reflects the behavior of killer whales.

Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine Visits Busch Gardens

A very important chef recently visited Busch gardens Tampa Bay. He is Robert Irvine, which is the host of the famous television show "Dinner: Impossible", on The Food Network. While visiting with his family, he fed some of the Asian elephants of the park, preparing a good meal for them. You can be sure that the elephants enjoyed their meal! Take a look:

The Making of "One Ocean" - Whale Behaviors

This week, SeaWorld Orlando has posted the fourth video of the series about their brand-new show, "One Ocean". Beneath the Surface-

The Making of SeaWorld's "One Ocean" - Whale Behaviors

The fourth video in our series “Beneath the Surface” delves into some of the new whale behaviors in the “One Ocean” show.

A new musical score and set enhancements such as fountains provided an opportunity for SeaWorld trainers to work with the whales on new behaviors. Positive reinforcement and a strong relationship between trainer and whales helped integrate behaviors with some of the new show elements.
Go backstage with trainers as they work with our family of killer whales.
“One Ocean” is now open at SeaWorld Orlando and opens at SeaWorld San Diego on Memorial Day weekend and SeaWorld San Antonio in June.

Busch Gardens Tampa: Cheetah Hunt's Full Test

The day has finally come! Cheetah Hunt, Busch Gardens' newest, ultra-themed coaster has finally made a complete circuit on the brand-new track! It looks fantastic, and it is really difficult to think that we're still a month away from its official grand opening.

But, would you like to see the testing of this great coaster by yourself? Then, take a look at this video, uploaded by Busch Gardens Tampa (NOTE: The trains are still not at a full speed, as they're still being tested. Full speed will be reached once the coaster officially opens, so don't be misled by the apparent "slow" speed of the trains):

Nice job, Busch Gardens. It looks like it's going to be a great ride! We can't wait to check it out, very soon!

The Making of "One Ocean" - Education

The SeaWorld Parks Blog has posted part 3 of the very interesting series, named " Beneath the Surface: The Making of One Ocean". This week we'll see how education played an important role in creating this great show:

Beneath the Surface: The Making of "One Ocean" - Education

The third video in our series “Beneath the Surface” highlights how “One Ocean” educates and inspires guests to protect the world we share.

The show’s national debut at SeaWorld Orlando on Earth Day - April 22 - is intended to bring a heightened awareness and appreciation for the world we share. SeaWorld’s conservation work spans the globe and “One Ocean” aims to communicate that commitment while delivering an entertaining show experience.
“Education and conservation have always been at the core of who we are,” notes curator of animal training Kelly Flaherty Clark. “We want guests to the new show to be both entertained and inspired to help make a difference.”
Over the past 40 years, SeaWorld has helped over 18,000 orphaned, injured or ill animals, many of them marine animals impacted by issues like pollution.
“By making a decision to recycle or not throw garbage into the water, one person can make a difference for the oceans and the planet we share,” says Flaherty Clark. “It’s this mission that inspired us throughout the making of “One Ocean.”
“One Ocean” opens at SeaWorld Orlando this Friday, April 22; SeaWorld San Diego on Memorial Day weekend and SeaWorld San Antonio in June.
